This is what happens when you are eager to break in some new pens, but have no paper. My mom and I were looking for something creative to do together. I brought by some new Gelly Roll pens to try and we needed dark paper. While my mom was searching for paper, she pulled out an old natural science book from the thrift store she had picked up for the images. It was outdated, but the illustrations were great and featured a variety of animals, insects, plants, and trees in equally varied environments, as one would find in North America.

We decided to have a little fun with those and the idea came up to turn them into “party animals.” Things went in several directions from there. Here are some of our late night efforts:

We had a great time embellishing these, things may have gotten a little slaphappy, but that’s not entirely unusual for us. I hope you enjoy these and most definitely give it a try yourself, it was a lot of fun!

  2. It was so much fun! Please join us to try yourself! No major art talent needed, as I can attest to! I worked mainly with “dots”!
