Winter Solstice (Dec. 21), aka the Yule is a time of magic, light, enlightenment, rebirth and renewal. It marks the shortest day of the year, signaling the return of the sun (the light, life), often symbolized by sparkling lights and lanterns, candles, or bonfires. There are many ways to celebrate this time of merriment, feasting, and family in the spirit of our ancient ancestors. My husband and my son and I have our own simple Solstice traditions that blend our multi-faith home.
This year, our circle of celebration expands as I’m honored to be a part of 38 artists of the Art Alliance of Idyllwild who are sharing and celebrating the Winter Solstice through art and music. The Solstice-themed show is an inspired collaboration between the Art Alliance of Idyllwild and the Idyllwild Master Chorale, and it is sure to capture the magic, light, and renewal of the season. If you are local to this area, I hope you will come join in the world premiere of this incredible line-up of singers, music, and art.
